Blake, Bradley and Ashley have many things in common: they’re loyal, ambitious and hard-working. They’re part of the same family. And they all have careers they love at Enterprise.
What led three members of one family to live and work together at Enterprise? When one of them established a career that allowed him to move up and explore opportunities in a supportive environment at a family-owned company, it wasn’t long before his relatives thought they might like to call Enterprise home, too.
Blake Y. was the trailblazer for his family, the first to work at Enterprise. After graduating, Blake moved home to Atlanta and took a job as an electrician to pay the bills. When his boss sent him to rent a truck with Enterprise, the branch manager quickly recognized that his drive and personality could take him far at the company. He told him about career opportunities at Enterprise and encouraged him to apply.
Blake started as a Management Trainee and quickly experienced the promote-from-within culture Enterprise is known for when he earned a promotion to Assistant Manager at the Central Atlanta branch. Opportunities continued to open up for him, eventually leading to Blake managing a brand new branch location.
After referring his college roommate to Enterprise and watching him achieve success with Car Sales, Blake was inspired to take his career in a different direction while staying with the company he loved.
“Hard work pays off no matter where you work at Enterprise,” says Blake. “But I really like the level of control I have over my earning potential in this new position in Car Sales. The more work you put in and relationships you make with customers, the bigger your reward.”
Blake’s Enterprise arrival came courtesy of another employee’s recognition of his potential. And he has since paid it forward, helping bring both his fiancé – now wife – and brother-in-law into the fold.
After college – where she met Blake – Ashley Y. was working in an accounting job with little promise for advancement. She watched Blake enjoying his work, having fun and forming bonds with his colleagues, and she wanted that for herself. So she joined the Enterprise family and quickly began working her way up from Management Trainee to Branch Manager.
Ashley experienced first-hand the value that Enterprise places on family when she became a mother. Ashley says Enterprise was extra supportive during her pregnancy and leave, and her managers continue their understanding. She encourages other women to envision being successful at work and motherhood at the same time.
“Women often get scared about how to have a career and a family,” says Ashley. “Communicate, work hard, and keep pushing. If that’s your dream, follow it. Don’t settle.”
The family connection keeps growing along with their careers. Ashley’s brother, Bradley B., began his career at Enterprise in 2018. He saw their success and the pride they took in their work, and applied to join them at Enterprise as a Senior Account Specialist in Truck Rental.
“It’s great Enterprise has so many different divisions. We can all work in separate areas and still have plenty of opportunities to move up,” says Ashley.
Whether they look to their Enterprise coworkers or their actual relatives, the three family members always feel supported in their careers.
“It’s nice to have the family connection,” says Blake. “If you’re in a bind, you always have someone to lean on.”
